The proceeds of selling my 400D, Battery grip and Sigma 105 Macro Lens has given me the most fortunate opportunity to get myself a nice new L series 100mm macro lens.
Trying to get used to the USM super fast focus of the lens and no extending barrel is quite a challenge as you have "learn" where the 1:1 mag is much more than was required with the Sigma so it's going to take a few attempts to get bugs n' such in focus .
Anyway, a quick shot of my sons eye was certainly in order. Or more so, the eyelashes as opposed to the iris.
This is straight out of the camera with a very minor tweak to levels curves and whites.
Expand the image for the 1024px wide image if your screen size downsizes it slightly
Moderately high key B/W conversion. Done using the Gradient Map feature.
