Deleting shares on FB from Smugmug

Hi folks

I shared a video from our smumug page to our FB page - worked beautifully, thanks. I then shared it again to change some text and discovered that I can't delete the original share, only hide it from my page. This means that folks subscribed to that page are seeing two posts (actually three now) because they still see stuff that is hidden. Unfortunately the 'delete post' button isn't available for those posts and I'm guessing that is because it came from SmugMug and not me. Anything I created directly in facebook can be deleted.

So, does anyone know of a way to delete a post on facebook made from my SmugMug page.

tx

Rich

EDIT - found it. You first have to hide it then go to the activity log. From the activity log you can click on the icon to the right of the post and then select delete rather than unhide

    Hi Rich,

Glad to hear you found a way.
I don't have a FB page, but tried sharing a video two times to my wall and going to my wall, I see the delete post option for both shares.

It's bizarre as it is completely repeatable for me. It may also be new with the timeline stuff.

What I was trying to do was to remove the text that was inserted from the Video and Gallery descriptions as they made the whole post too large. I just wanted the text that I added myself. It doesn't seem possible unfortunately as even if I temporarily delete the gallery and video descriptions the FB share button seems to pick it up from somewhere - presumable a cached copy, and I don't want to wait to long before putting the text back.

I'll see if I can find the suggestions place and add a suggestion to have a 'No Description' button alongside the 'No Keywords' button.

Other than that it works beautifully and is just what I want

Ah, I don't use timeline. So it might be that or possibly limited to using pages instead of your wall.

You can find the SmugMug feedback pages here.

If you'd like full control over the content right now, you could try just copy&pasting the link to the video (using the gallery or lightbox link) into Facebook. That should give you the ability to edit the content of the post even before posting it.

It does and that's what I am doing. Unfortunately it sticks a long ugly URL at the top which FB doesn't let you hide - http://photos.miseast.org/NorthKorea/Video/17446927_9JZQ3z#!i=1686904188&k=b2w73dx&lb=1&s=A

If I use the URL shortener then the link looks like it comes from smu.gs rather than us photos.miseast.org and that may put our visitors off. It works well enough at the mo, just trying to get it a bit better

tx. I'm off to see if I can remember me Uservoice username now
