Rome!
I did the proper thing I threw a coin over my shoulder into the Trevi Fountain on my last trip to Rome so obviously, I had to go back. Oddly, this trip was prompted by a conversation. I was discussing blowing a grand on a nice new camera when someone far wiser suggested I blow a grand on taking the equipment I've already got somewhere nice. So I did just that and didn't regret it.
If you have a large display, you can click on any of these images for bigger viewing pleasure.
The ruins fascinate me and I think I will be going back to them every visit.
Very close to the hotel, I was also able to visit the Colosseum a few times.
The Vatican
The Trevi Fountain
The Spanish Steps and Trinità dei Monti.
Tiber Island
And finally, that great time saver, Rome's Metro and one its increasingly rare stars.
Hints for taking photos in Rome? However you can (or alternatively, be up at 4am like the author of the excellent Italy post on this forum). The crowds are bad and I actually find myself looking to try and make the people work for the composition (which involved a lot of waiting for a notoriously impatient me).
