Newborn photos - ADVICE please

Hey everyone!

My wife is currently overdue for our first child - so it's any day now!

I'm trying to sort out what camera kit to take to the birth - I'm thinking just my 50mm portrait lens + flash gun (maybe with the ring extension)

Any suggestions / thoughts / advice?

Whatever you do, just keep it simple. If you are like I was (38 years ago) you won't be able to think about photgraphic technocrap. The day after will be fine for newborn shots.

Unless the little one has his or her eyes closed I would avoid flash of any kind. A prime like the 50 should be more than adequate in ambient light.

Awesome - thanks heaps guys. Didn't really think about flash and the effect on new born eyes.

I've just purchased a soft box and some props for the home studio, which will soften things up.

    Thanks again!
