I received notice from a good friend who works at Family Eldercare for a photo contest which started yesterday and runs for about eight weeks. They are celebrating their 30th anniversary and have commissioned a photo contest to celebrate this milestone and focus on our aging population.

I immediately thought of all my digital-friends (ie: you) and the great work in Street/PJ with B&W, emotions and impact. I also cleared this with the MOD staff, as well as received approval from Family Eldercare to offer the contest to everyone, even those outside of Texas. An aging population is everywhere, not just the Lonestar state.

This is the objective:
Photographers are encouraged to submit any image of an older adult, alone or with others, and in all stages of life. The judges will be especially interested in photographs that highlight the focus of Family Eldercare – images depicting the challenges facing older adults as well as images celebrating older adults leading dignified, independent and engaged lives.

This contest is open to all photographers, and all forms of photographic expression are welcome. The contest will culminate in an exhibition and all winning selections will be included in an exhibition catalog.

The details are here:

In a nutshell, this is an eight week timeframe, with a minimal entry fee which will go to support Family Eldercare. Judging will be done by four high-level, professional photographers (read their qualifications, it's deep) and prize money will be awarded. I have zero affiliation with this event other than having a friend there who let me know about this and asked if I could share.

I know I've already got an image somewhat sketched out in my head I'd like to capture.

I believe if you participate, this would be a good thread to post your submission as well.

Thanks-
~scott

Not quite family oriented, Tony's handicapped dude with tubes would be a good entry.

I'll try to get something when/if the opportunity arises
