Continuing from the previous thread here http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=220249 .
Once free from the nymph, the wings are blown upto full size first and then the abdomen elongates. The damselfly then spends another couple of hours drying out before taking it's maiden flight. One difficulty in taking photos of these at this stage is that as soon as they are free from the nymph, they will try to hide from any potential predator (including a camera) normally by going round the other side of the tig they are on.
