Trying to backup from Lightroom but it's resizing for some reason

Hi,

I'm trying to backup all my original files from lightroom to smugmug.. I chose original and no resizing... for some reason all uploaded images were downsized (same resolution but all are less than a meg)..

any idea why this is happening?

When I emailed support they suggested I chang settings to JPG and 80 quality.. I'm reluctant as I need this as backup, I don't want to loose quality of my photos (or is there no difference)?

My originals are 90% JPG's with some raw pics..

If you don't want Lightroom to resave your photos, you can select "original" as the image format. I just tested this on my Lightroom 4 with the latest SmugMug plugin (version 1.0.2.35) and the photo on SmugMug was identical to the file on my drive except for some metadata changes, but disregarding the metadata, it was 100% identical.

Of course, this only applies if you have made *no* changes to the photo within Lightroom. If you make any change to the photo in Lightroom, those changes would be automatically applied to the photo that Lightroom publishes to SmugMug.
