    Very nice shot and pose John. These birds always look like they have an attitude, love the wings slighting up in the air.

    That display is commonly used to intimidate predators or to keep other males away during mating season. Nice capture John.

    Hey, Thanks everybody. Glad you liked the shot. I'm glad I caught that display, 'cause I'd seen it numerous times, but was never able to capture it. I've never been able to get what I thought was a particularly sharp image of a grackle. I wonder if the iridescence has something to do with it?
