Heading to South Africa on Safari in a few weeks, and I've decided that I'm now bicameral. In addition to my 5D3, I'm bringing a D800 and Nikon 200-400 VR. OK Harry, have you way with me now :lol3

Andy, I've been bicameral for years. It's GREAT!

What better way to spice up your life than with a little experimenting on the other side of the fence?

I'm really, really excited! But it's tempered with the reality: to get the best from the D800 you MUST have nothing-less-than perfect technique. That means, not 1/focal length, but rather shoot at 1/800th sec at 400mm. And make damn sure your camera is well supported.

Andy - are you really going to bring a D800 and not get the 14-24 to accompany it???

Just keep them separated in the bag so they don't fight.

Interesting. I've got about 10k photos through my D800 and I haven't had any trouble at all. But then, maybe my photos are all terrible and no one is telling me. Clearly, I am not getting the best out of my camera.

A pic of Andy when "bicameral" was never a thought, and wasn't a word.

^ that pic was moments before he "poisoned" me by having me look through his new 5D, with the bright and huge viewfinder. My wife was standing right there, overheard the conversation, and muttered "Oh no. Now Dave's gonna want one too." I finally did something about that a week ago. Took only 6 years.

Bicameral. Sheesh. rolleyes1.gif I don't even know who you are anymore.

The 14-24G is a good move, no matter the system. Best DSLR lens on the planet. If Andy got that, I could get used to him saying bicameral.

You know you have to post shots from both sides upon your return. If you are going to come out of the closet, you may as well fly that freak flag high and flaunt it! :D

Great lens. I'll have wide angle on my Canon.

    Ha! Funny stuff.

If one is making a trip to Africa it is worth getting a body to fit the 200-400, as this is the lens you want.

Sweet trip - have a good time.

Awesome. For me, handheld only at 1/3x focal length or faster.

I see the first thing we will have to do is an attitude re-adjustment.

Andy, isn't a better way of saying this is that you're "coming out of the darkroom" instead of "closet?"
