Hey Travis, I like the feel of the shot but it feels a bit to "meta" for me. There's a sense of it being about the photographer more so than the woman, and her role in the image is ill defined.
Come on, Jennifer. We have a hazy, tattooed arm holding a fuzzy point-and-shoot camera, pointing more or less in the direction of the viewer, next to an overdressed and over-ringed woman whose body language makes you wonder if she's just been slapped. It's pretty effective surrealism.
Nope it isn't. And as you noted about the photog, I think it's a reversed image. Finger on the shutter and all that. I haven't yet run across a left-hand actuation camera with the rangefinder viewfinder on the right. I'd like one though. Still no WTF factor for me. No interaction or theme or setting or substance that would lead to ambiguity or WTF. Tat's don't add or change the setting in this case. It's a square image, so I'll make another assumption. Maybe the crop is too tight?
Yep, no doubt image is reversed. And?. . . And yes, since it obviously wasn't shot with a Rollei, it was cropped. So where does all that lead? To me it leads right back where we were in the beginning. Last time I checked, a reversed, cropped image could be just as surrealistic as a straight, un-cropped imaged.
Technically, I'd agree. Reversed and cropped images can still be good. I might pull that one up in LL at some point. Still, in this case, I think it's a fun and introspective SP but not surrealistic or WTF.
In terms of our opinions on this shot, agree to disagree?

Yep. Let's. I like your work too much to get into an extended argument on this one.
Wow, great debate. I've been slammed with work all day and hadn't had a chance to check in on the feedback. I figure if I can start an exchange then I have a keeper.
B.D., I do like your rework and will try to do the same myself over the week.

Where's the WTF? It's interesting, but not a banger.

Works for me. "Something is happening here, but you don't know what it is, do you, Mr. Jones?"
Stop over analyzing, folks.
