One Eyed Jack
The above strangeness face in the clouds, kinda Edward Allen Poe'ish nightmare stories to me, was acquired while shooting the annular eclipse as seen from Meridian, Idaho.
Fairly odd appearance yes :scratch:D I can tell ya it took me a few moments to see "One Eyed Jack" out of this.
We had a semi cloud cover for the event so we got many good glimpses only among those clouds.
I managed a few half decent is all. Using camera unfiltered and with solar filter as seen below.

In a mere 5+ years there will be a full eclipse crossing the US. You could drive to Nebraska, Wyoming or other to see it. I think that would be worth the drive yes? Looks like I won't have to drive far for that one and with 5 years to spare I think I can be ready instead not as with this annular eclipse was for me.
I watch space weather dot com for the aurora chart and other. Gads I missed the news this time. D
One Eye Jack. Well... all of the image is of him. Save for the little puff in front of his mouth. His implied movement is to the right. The eclipse portion with the little star burst is his right eye looking our way. The white area his skull. What serves as his nose is well forward his eye and is kinda pointed like Pinocchios. The square'ish jaw, lips and a couple of teeth are below the eye and a bit forward. His "flaming" hair is streaming behind him. If one looks long enough and a bit back from the screen I can see at the bridge of nose what might be thought of as his left eye. Small half round white "eye". He is blind ya know. Can you make him out now. Hope you can. I was hoping it wouldn't be too hard for everyone and I had a tough time deciding if I should even show it as it is pretty strange and a little tough to make out unless you look at it awhile. Thats asking a lot as the base shot is not all that appealing as it having to do with the eclipse which was totally excellent. So many outstanding images I've seen taken by other photographers.
I go to this site to watch for the northern lights.
Now I see the One Eyed Jack. Took me awhile. Moved further away from the monitor and it was easier to see. Thought for a minute or two I'd need to grab a beer, drink it and then take a look again
