Large red damselfly closeups

Some closeups of large red damselflies in the garden. Was beginning to wonder where these had got to but the recent hot weather has bought them out.

    Question... How close are you to this bug when shooting? How far away is the front of the lens?

    I've really wanted to get into macro stuff for a long time but a macro setup always gets pushed down on the wish list. A macro lens is now the only thing I don't own so I'm probably a month away from buying one and a set of extension tubes.

    AC - Distance from end of lens around 2 inches. With macro you not only need to learn about using the equipment, you also need to learn how not to scare off the subjects all the time.
