Here are a few from the other evening. So nice to be able to shoot in daylight after a spring of crappy HS stadium lights!

Is that daylight you're shooting in for once? Real nice. I especially like #3.

Having shot a fair amount of soccer I can say these are great!

Very nice shots, Icebear!! I especially love the last one, where the player is looking out from under her brows to the ball. What's often difficult in soccer is getting that shot where the player has the ball but is looking out towards the field--or even better, towards the camera. I try to track the player and hit the shutter in that one brief moment when they look up. Can't say I am too successful with this method, though...

I might suggest a little tighter crop on the first shot. There is a lot interesting going on between the two players, and the large amount of dead space detracts from this, at least to my eye.

I agree, but it's already a pretty severe crop. It was one of those shots where I wished I was shooting with the D300 instead of the D700 for the reach.

I have shot college football from great seats in the stands, but have not done soccer.

Really like number 4. Both players look like they are going to dive for the ball. Excellent.

Nice capture for #4. Looks like those two really want the ball!

Funny how that Nike swoosh always gets in the shot!

Hehe, I don't know about this league, but my daughter plays on a team that is sponsored by Nike (Elite Club National League). It is odd, I have to say, to have a 15 year old girl be a sponsored athlete. Then again, she is playing with 17-18 year old girls. The Nike logo is everywhere to be seen, of course, as ultimately this is just advertising for Nike. I guess commercialism starts young these days...

Seems like the DC area is one that most everybody cycles through at some point in their lives. It really is a hotbed of highly competitive girls' soccer too. This set was high school, not club.
    Thanks for the comment David.

Looks like nice light to shoot in. Someone suggested tighter crop and the only thing I'd add is lower shooting position.

    Good job!

Yep. Overcast! I like to kneel, or use a little stool I carry sometimes, but it had rained a lot the day before and the sidelines were soggy. I wussed out and kept my jeans dry. :D
