Every Memorial Day we visit the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. This year it was very still; no wind, no clouds. I always find markers of some sort that loved ones have placed on the memorial; a story of some kind, almost overwhelming. It's always an honor to visit.

Great photos!!! I enjoyed each one of them. I can hear/feel the silence in each of your photos.

No grass. I've never seen a cemetery that is bare ground like this. It's a beautiful cemetery if one can call a cemetery beautiful.

    Thanks for sharing these.

    Outstanding, Eia!

I live very near there, and my wife and son usually take part in placing the flags. This year they were there on Tuesday taking them all down. I guess I need to tag along next year.

I guess I take the 'no grass' for granted - never thought about that too much. I do think the desert landscape helps the golden colors come out. Yes, it is so quiet and reverent that it gives a peaceful feeling considering... I think cemeteries are beautiful too! iloveyou.gif

Is your son a Boy Scout? They are so appreciated for serving in such a way! You really ought to visit next year. Thank you for your kind comment!

    Yes. He's a scout. Thanks.

#1 is my favorite and #2 shows a mountain I'm very familiar with.

Very moving. I just wrote a letter to my young 13 year old nephew about USAF service during Vietnam. It may me think of that time and all the people who did so much.

    Thanks for posting,
