Little Blue (Cupido minimus)

This tiny butterfly, about 2/3 the size of the common blue, is quite common in the chalk quarry. Although this species is widespread across southern England it is established in local populations.

The reason for this localisation is that the sole food plant of the larvae is Kidney Vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria)
