I instructed a client today to simply use the share to facebook feature that smugmug provides our sites. Showed her both the link under the photos and the social share via drop down & asked that she tag me in all the photos she shared. Well I get on tonight & see she's been trying hard bless her heart... but it only shares a thumbnail & link to view the photo on my smug site... ughhh... how can we keep up with what photos are being shared &/or the comments people place on her facebook post? As far as I can tell it's impossible which makes me not want to even have the smugmugs social plugins enabled. Please smugmug... I'm begging you to figure out a better social networking photo tool for us (both pro & basic). Sorry for the vent, just frustrated :-(

PS: She was not able to tag me at all & had I not directly went to her facebook page I'd have never knew she shared the thumbnail links.

    Hi Cindy,

When a visitor uses BeSocial to post to Facebook, a thumbnail image with a link back to the image in the gallery is what is posted. This is normal behavior. Since the visitor doesn't have access to your site, they are not able to post images to Facebook.

You as the site owner can post images to Facebook by using our Publish to Facebook feature. This is currently a beta feature. Goto your site using your Smugmug URL and add /darkroom to the end of the URL. There you can opt in for the Publish to Facebook feature.

If you have any other questions, please contact us at the SmugMug help desk and we'll be happy to help.

Yes, I'm aware of the 'Publish to Facebook & do use it. However I'm just disappointed that when clients (or anyone for that matter) use the share to facebook that we aren't made aware of it &/or able to follow the comments, likes, etc generated unless we by chance discover that they've been shared. I'm guessing it's possible that by using analytics there might be a way to do this... ? ... anyone done it &/or have a 'how to'?
