I just got my new Sigma 50-200mm DC OS HSM for my 550D.
So far the AF is really fast and way quieter than the kit lens that came with my 550D.
The optical quality is amazing as far as I can tell. It's my third day with it.

Today I was attaching it in a bright room and I noticed what looked like a small hair on the glass.
I tried to brush it off with my lens-pen, but it wouldn't come off. So I tried to take it off with
the cleaner on the lens-pen and still it wouldn't come off.

What do you guys think this is?

Impossible to say what it is by that description. One would have to see the lens to be sure.

Regardless, if you are dissatisfied, send it back for an exchange.

It almost looks like a tiny scratch on the surface of the glass. I don't know if its worth going through all the trouble of a mail in exchange for a hardly noticeable flaw.

it probably won't show in pics but for a new lens it should be flawless. The Canon 55-250IS is considered sharper and it's only $150
