I get unexpected reply from smugmug when trying to export from LightRoom 4.1 with Jeffrey's latest plugin. It is his opinion that there must be a problem with smugmug networking. Have there been any other reports? I used the default smugmug uploader to complete my uploads and it went ok. My site is www.lazyjphotography.com
The upload fails with even a single image. Can you help?
Thanks,
John

Try rebooting your router / modem and see if that helps. Do you only get the issue with he LR plugin?
Email us at the help desk and we'll help get this resolved for you. http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/emails/new
Hey John, I am not sure if it works for you. You can try to upload to smugmug using our desktop app PicBackMan (http://www.picbackman.com), its super easy and automatic. It allows you to upload to Smugmug and 6 other services like flickr, picasa, etc.
Thanks.
PS: I am sure it is not my Internet connection problem because I am having this issue every time I tried upload. Latency to smugmug server RTT was less than 50ms, no packet loss.

But I just uploaded a few dozen yesterday and a couple hundred Saturday, no problems; in fact I can't recall a problem uploading in months.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you recall if there was any setting you changed from default? I found that in Lightroom, go to Files --> Lightroom Plugin Manager -->Smugmug. There are two Upload Methods available. POST and PUT. It is default to PUT. What's the difference between POST and PUT? Which one I are you using?
Everything worked flawlessly when I was on Lightroom 3.x. I started to experience this problem since I upgraded to LR 4.1 and the new plugin... See attached. I just tried uploading one photo. It took a while before throwing out the error. I can tell the data was flowing from the network utilization. But it eventually failed at the end. Not sure why.
I've just learned to live with it. Neither the developer nor smugmug seem to think it is an issue. It sometimes takes several attempts to get an upload and sometimes I give up and try another day. Also even after a successful attempt, sometimes the image does not appear in the gallery to which I uploaded. Usually there is a place holder that shows, saying the image is being processed. Other times that does not appear and I can not tell if the upload was actually successful even though the plugin completed. The jfriedl plugin for flickr works flawlessly. I can only assume it is a smugmug server issue. But what do I know, I went to a one room schoolhouse. Thinking seriously about zenfolio.
John
You are NOT using JF's plugin, you are using the Smugmug plugin. They are two different tools.
I never use Smugmug's (not for any good reason other than never have). I downloaded it just now to check, and I see that option box. The option is not on the JF plugin.
You may want to try this one:
It's almost free (registration needed and at least a penny charge for unlimited use, but you can test free last time I looked).
It is more frequently updated than Smugmug's. I have uploaded hundreds of images at a time with it without error, both on my old slow circuit (< 1mbs up) and on new fast circuit (10mbs up).
That's a smugmug issue, though it is mostly a frustration for instant gratification - usually I start an upload and go eat or something, and when I get back all is finished in both regards.
But to your point about neither the developer nor smugmug, I may be mistaken, but I think we are talking two different tools here, and two different developers.
No, I use Jfriedl plugin. Have since LR3 came out. Never had issues with with LR 3 through 3.6.
I never had issue on LR 3.x either. Issue started from 4.x.
But you are the one who posted the note about "post" as an option. That is NOT the JFRIEDL Smugmug plugin. It is in the Smugmug Smugmug plugin. They are two completely different programs.
I can't speak to which John is using.
Here are the two shown one above the other, the one on top is the Smugmug version, the one on the bottom is jfriedl's. The one on the bottom is what I use, and have no problems through any of the versions of Lightroom (am now on 4.2RC).
You can see this from the Plug-in Manager option from File.
