I'm looking to purchase a new tripod. Any suggestions? I'm using a Canon 7D with Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS.

Thanks,

Chris

I wish I had read this before buying my last tripod.

I feel silly: I just noticed a sticky at the top of this forum about buying tripods by Ian408. It's informative and well written. If you haven't glanced at that yet, you should.

I have a Bogen/Manfrotto that seems to work well for me, though if I had it to do over again, I'd look hard at a set of Gitzo legs. I'm on the verge of buying an RRS ball head. . . .

Let us know what you decide to buy.

One of the primary advantages of CF is not just the relative lightness, but its vibration damping ability. I didn't see that mentioned in the sticky.

after using aluminium head and CF legs in slight cold.. i realize i must have bought CF ball head as well... CF hardly gets cold. my personal experience with twist locks is not good, easily get dirt and moisture which effects functionality(then you open each lock and clean it) i dont know other brands i have Feisol.
