Setting up a custom hostname/domain

Hello,

I am trying to help setup another SmugMug site for my girls soft ball team, we bought the Domain Name from Go Daddy and the Power User account. But when I try to change the CUSTOM DOMAIN from the
www.texaslightningtnt.smugmug.com to www.texaslightningtnt.com it tells me
That hostname doesn't resolve to SmugMug's CNAME (domains.smugmug.com). See our help section

I have done a search and I'm still lost, it said I can have a custom domain name but it's not working....


Any help on what I'm doing wrong?

It looks like you didn't set up your domain at GoDaddy to work with SmugMug yet. You can find the necessary settings that need to be set up in the DIY section on our custom domain help article.

Note that it can take up to 48 hours after you make the changes for them to propagate. Only once the changes have propagated, would you be able to add the domain to the SmugMug control panel > settings tab > domain setting.

So when I go to Smugmug Doomain GoDaddy's site and I forward my web address to smugmug do I use

www.texaslightningtnt.smugmug.com

or with or out the smugmug?

Forwarding is not used. Just these two is all. As rainforest1155 states above.

1. Point your CNAME 'www' to domains.smugmug.com .

2. Point your A Record '@' to 208.79.45.23 .

Note that it can take up to 48 hours after you make the changes for them to propagate. Only once the changes have propagated, would you be able to add the domain to the SmugMug control panel > settings tab > domain setting.

3. Visit your SmugMug Control Panel and look in the Settings tab for the "Domain" line. Click change and paste your new domain name into the "Custom Hostname" box. That's it!

Is the http://www.smugmugdomains.com/ the same thing as the http://www.godaddy.com??
What is "Point your Record @ 208.79.45.23?
Under what tab does the RECORD go under, I am looking but I can't find it?

I JUST FOUND IT after LOOKING ALL DAY YESTERDAY......

Are you sure that you set up the CNAME record to point to exactly:
domains.smugmug.com
You have to use that exact same address - do not make any changes to it.
