I am shopping for a used camera and I wonder how to test it to ensure it is a good buy.
I found this link "10 Things to Test Before Buying a Used Camera."
1. Body inspection: 2. Auto Focus accuracy: 3. Sensor inspection: 4. Shutter inspection: 5. Colors inspection: 6. Buttons inspection: 7. Flash inspection: 8. Dead Pixel inspection: 9. Connection inspection:10. Serial Number inspection:
See link for details.

One of the procedures involves shutter count (actuations) and I have seen where some have said that it is difficult to get a truly accurate count. Is this true?
Also, does anybody have anything to add to the list?
Thanks, Phil

Only some digital SLR cameras make it easy to know the shutter actuations. Sometimes you can use software to read the image count, but that doesn't always work.
Software which "may" work (but not guaranteed to work) to tell the image count on Nikon cameras (some is freeware):
Simple EXIF Viewer for Mac OS X
MyShutterCount
Opanda IExif

Thank you.
