I haven't had a lot of time to play with my macro gear of late, but decided to make the effort today.
Armed with my 1DMKIV loaded with the 65mm MPE I headed out into the garden to see if it were, indeed, possible for me to handhold macro shots. I have learned that the answer is probably...no.
Thoughts?

There are some techniques with handholding the MPE-65. Firstly when above 1:1 , in most cases you need to be using flash. You can also stabilise everything a lot if you can hold part of the subject in your left hand and then rest the camera lens on the same hand. This makes it much easier to focus. I also tend to walk around with a pole when doing shots- where I can't hold part of the subject I hold the pole and part of the camera (normally the lens).
