Some purists would say number 1 is not a landscape. There is an object in it that is "made by the hand of man". My local club is very picky about this, me, not so much. headscratch.gif

^^ agree with Kurt. There are many variants of landscapes including ones that contain human elements, micro-landscapes, abstracts, etc. All are acceptable and welcome in this forum.

Nice collection of shots. Were the plants in the first shot really rising out of the fog like that? The last shot seems a bit over-saturated. Good work overall and looking forward to seeing more of your work. thumb.gif

Sorry for the delay in responding - have been on a project deadline (for my day job as an architect).

Thanks for helping on a landscape definition. That "made by the hand of man" criteria could bring all 4 photos into question since they are all of gardens at the Dallas Arboretum - all planted and arranged by man. Personally, I'm with you on the "not so much".

Thanks for the words of encouragement. The Arboretum has an area where they use a misting system to keep the humidity up. The photo caught the misting system in action.

The last photo has the Lightroom 4 clarity slider pushed to -100. I have been experimenting with some of my photos to see how far I get them to an impressionist painting. This is one of the first I have tried. Any thoughts on how I can move them closer to that goal would be appreciated.

Oh, is that what that was. I think the clarity adjust was a good idea to achieve your goal. I also think you want to reduce the saturation some; if you look at your histogram's red channel, I'm certain you will see that it's pretty clipped. You might want to google Orton Effect for some ideas as well.

    Cheers,
