For something like this, I would suggest setting the gallery that you are sharing from to Hide Owner. What this will do is change the URL you are sharing to a www.smugmug.com URL and not allow any linking back to your site. You can find some additional information about your gallery settings here:

You can also just use the direct photo link and use
[img][/img]
tags around the link. Someone can still find your homepage from the link, but not if you also use a non-branded link like in the previous post.

    Other discussions
Here's a couple other discussions about this:

    http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=212979

You will see that this is not super-easy and requires manually constructing a url each time. In these discussions the folks from smugmug are helpful and provide suggestions, but don't seem to fully grasp the importance of this to some of their customers. I understand we are in the minority and they are focused on other things.

There was a user who indicated they were considering writing a script to anonymize urls, but I don't think anything became of it.

A simple addition to the "get a link" options would (in my opinion) be the ideal solution, and can't be that difficult to implement. If you agree, please add your vote to my Feature Request:

That was me! rolleyes1.gif What exactly is/was the issue and solution? If you can show me some examples of what the original link is and what you want it to be, I can probably make a quick javascript for it. thumb.gif

Yep, that works quite well. :) I think some want it to be completely untraceable, so a generic domain vs custom, which does require hand-building each link.
