The second stage of the Whitewater Grand Prix for 2012 was held on the North Fork of the Payette river in near Boise Idaho last weekend. 45 degrees and raining all day.
30 Elite World Class Kayakers competed on the toughest gated course ever used for a competitive event. The entire event was on Class V whitewater through Jacob's Ladder, Taffee Puller and Golf Course rapids. The event winner was Ryan Casey with Tyler Bradt coming in a close second.
The river gave these guys all they could handle with several boaters being flipped for substantial periods and a couple floaters that had to be pulled out....but they loved every minute of it.
This is a big gallery but it you like whitewater kayaking...worth a look.

    What he said15524779-Ti.gif

I love this sport--used to compete at a pretty high level myself, back in my youth--and there are some wonderful shots in there. However, so many shots and a lot of repetition dilute the punch of the set. You're probably trying to sell them, so I understand keeping a lot of shots. Still, give us 4-5 of your faves!

I must say that I feel for the guy with the blown skirt; not where I'd want to be wide open. Has happened to me tho...

Thanks for the comments. It is a free gallery not selling them.
I plan to make a highlight gallery eventually, for now it is more a documentary of the event, each competitors runs.

Very cool stuff. Great shots of a difficult subject. Kayaking is like getting flushed down a toilet in a controlled fashion! Especially like this. I would love to get into it. But too many irons in the fire now.
