Last weekend the DW and I traveled south of here viewing fall colors. The first two were shot
in the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge.
A view of the marshes
We were leaving the river access at Millstream Gardens Consv Area. This was the road out.

View of the Tiemann cascades at Millstream
.
Next was a visit to the Silver Mines
Cascades at the Silver Mines
Kayak races are held each spring at the mines with Millstream as a backup if the waters not high enough.
We had a lovely time visiting ten different sites.

Our leaves are starting to have some color, it will continue on into December. I'm from the east coast originally and remember seeing Sunset Magazine featuring as a Christmas table centerpiece, some beautiful autumn leaves floating in a clear glass bowl.
Of course I thought they were nuts -- everyone knows leaves are gone in October the latest!!!!
Well out here they start turning as early as August and continue into December, depending on the tree!
Right now the star maple are turning and dropping their leaves, and the locust trees are turning beautiful shades of vivid yellow or orange.
Of course coming from the east coast I yearn for some oak leaves!
That was a really pretty place for a walk!
