Referrers

I know the referrers tab shows external links, but it doesn't show all of them. I frequently create a link and post it back to an image on various sites and forums. Forums links seem to show up in referrers, but links from FB, twitter, my blog, and G+ do not. It would be nice to see all of the referrers so I can see how effective various sites are at creating traffic.

Links you post on Facebook, G+, and Twitter use what's called "no follow" links, which means those links can't be indexed by search engines (or by SmugMug). Because of this, there's not a way for us to show FB, Twitter, or G+ referrers in your Stats, sorry!

One thing you can do that will help you better monitor traffic on your SmugMug site is to set up an external tracking service, like Google Analytics. This will allow to you collect much more data about your site traffic, like where your visitors come from (ie, FB, Google Search, link from another site, etc), their geographic location, what pages they view, how long they stay on your site, etc. Setting up Google Analytics is very easy; check out item # 40 on this page to see how it's done.
