I'm not feeling the shot B.D., but the depth of color is spectacular.

Well, balls! Travis. rolleyes1.gif (It's another in the series of found objects I've been shooting over time. Not going to win an awards, but...)

This is an image that should work-- but somehow doesn't. ne_nau.gif.

Maybe a different crop? Thinking "out loud", I'm thinking square crop would make it stronger.

I'm thinking the cam 6" above ground, shot blind; increase ball size vs cars.

The color is reminiscent of old Kodak prints. Deliberate effect,
    I suppose.

The photo is not-so-impressive. Grab shots can be off and
include distractions because there is no preparation.

On this one, though, the photographer had the ability to
shoot from a lower perspective (as Torags says) and eliminate
that dark mass at the bottom.

    1. The camera was about a foot off the ground; look at the balls, look at the cars.
    2. The "dark" mass is road tar, with tire treads in it. It shows up quite clearly on my monitors, perhaps not on Tony's.
    3. The photographer shot from where he wanted to shoot - which doesn't mean anyone has to like it, but rather than it was quite deliberate.
    4. A square might be a good idea.

I like it, there is only one thing that makes me feel kind'a distracted and is the sign on the left.
It called my attention before the .......balls.
I can see easily the tire marks and colors in general are great.
Other than that, if you meant it the way it is, Welcome, like it no matter what.
    Carlos.

Of course I see the tire tracks in the road tar. It's still a dark mass,
and it doesn't seem to me to add to image. It detracts because it
isn't required for the scene and just sits there and looks like a mass
of darkness. We already know the balls are next to a road.

Don't get sensitive and defensive, BD. Viewers like some, viewers don't like
some. That's what I expect, and I assume you do to.

I don't think any amount of cropping will make this image interesting. I do think there was an opportunity for an interesting shot there, but I think it was missed from this angle/POV/perspective.

Hehe... bd if you have discretion, you should shoot BIG balls. I mean wants small balls?

I know your excellent at B&W, but if you want to be a man of color, try cutting down on sat... it might be sat....is...fying (couldn't help myself)

Tony, I'm not being sensitive, I am merely responding to your comment. Your distraction is my compositional element. And you and everyone else is entitled to not like, and criticize any image posted here by anyone - especially when that criticism is as specific and reasoned as yours.:D
