I think i'd almost like a combination of the two. The 2nd one does good for the gear, and the scratches on the pads, the stick etc. But I think it is a bit too much on face. I think the face on the first one looks a bit better. Great shot though, regardless of the treatment you go with!
    Camera: Nikon D4
    Lenses: Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR II | Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 | Nikon 50mm f/1.4

Agree, the face on the second one is too harsh. The first looks really good.
    C&C always welcomed.

    Cheers

But if I had to choose, #1 for a senior portrait.
#2 for any kind of commercial application.

Yeah somewhere in the middle. 1 is soft 2 is crunchy. Your last one looks about right.

I'll let ya in on a little secret.

The venue and the player were taken at different times. :D

If ya can't bring the venue to the country, the country boy can make a trip to the venues and keep using them!

Agreed on that. If you've got some cool venues do some walkarounds with a tripod and bracket the exposures. Send me the files and I' I'll do some hdr with them and return the finished files to you.

    Bryce.

Awesome photo and the last is the sh!t.

I was going to ask if this was a composite. Not because you did a bad job or because I can tell. I was just wondering because I've been playing around with the same concept. I'm a big fan of Joel Grimes and he composites almost all of his shots.
