ok here it is my entery into challenge 51. I decided on a classic, so I pulled out the board, set it up and shot the photo. I used one of our 110w slave lights with reciever to get rid of shadows and to give crisp sharp edges to the die and car.
f/20
ISO 200
focal length 70mm
Ex. time 0.0166s (1/60)
taken 11-11-2005
only minor cropping

Still looking for some input, do you like it or should I set it up a little differently, running low on time.
Bob.

does it look to cookie cutter or is it a good enough shot for this challenge, you tell me.

I like the idea. You know what might give it some "umph" is taking it at a lower angle to the board, with a defined, narrow DOF.... maybe open your aperature as much as posible and focus on one of the pieces.

    Just a thought.

Or you can play with the lighting to make it more dramatic. This is an "old-style" type of game to could benefit from a sepia tone treatment on the shot.

this is just for the fun of it because I like the first one better, just thought that I would do a little PS to it to see what you think.

I tried the sepia look and it didn't look good to me but thanks for the advice.

Maybe a lower angle to see more of the board, fading to a black background, and a more contrasty, lower-angle light?

OK I might kick myself in the butt tomorrow but I have decided to take a big chance with the second shot. I have been keeping an eye on all the post into the challenge and there are quite a few very competitive shots in this challenge. I wish everyone the best of luck.
