Hello,
Would appreciate if i could get some insight into the following:
1. Is there a way to highlight a gallery when new pictures are added to it ? (to get the attention of audience to the new pictures.)
2. Is there a way to send an email to those who 'commented' on my website when a new gallery is added ? (this is to inform my audience about the new galleries i added).
Thanks so much in advance. My website is www.thoorigai.in
Regards,
Venkat

1 - I'm sorry, there isn't a way to do this that I'm aware of, we certainly don't have anything built in for this.
2 - We aren't an email client, as such our email capabilities are limited. If the person leaves an email address, you certainly will be able to see that but there is no built in email tool straight from the comments.
I encourage you to let us know about what features are important to you by using our user feedback site.
With best regards,
Ryan W.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but the best workaround I've come up with for that purpose is to set up a Smart gallery that collects new images via a specified recent date range. Then you can put that "New Photos" gallery front and center and/or urge viewers to grab its RSS feed so they'll know when you upload new images.
This process is a bit kludgy because you have to manually maintain the date range. It would be cleaner if Smart galleries had a relative date selection parameter -- vote for this.
You could use feedburner and make an rss widget that anyone can subscribe to by entering there email address in a "subscribe" box....have a look this thread, it's a bit outdated, so feedburner might look a little different than the screen shots...but you should be able to figure it out pretty easily:
