What file type, jpeg, psd, png, tiff do I or should I use for my site. I see that the labs for printing want jpeg. Do i lose image quality if a customer opens and closes a jpeg tons to look at it? I really don't knowthe answer to this and it seems pretty important to me. Also pretty obvioud, I'm sure. I of course shoot raw and my originals are saved on an external hard drive in that format.

My work flow is pretty simple............ shoot raw.........process..........save as ful;l sized jpg (depending on software that is either #12 or 100) .... if cleint really needs tif, or CYMK or PSD or what ever I will go back to the raw and re-export or save as they need it.....but I do not need all that space taken up just sitting there.....yes hard drives are cheap but they are not free.....

For website use....if your host allows unlimited storage , then by all means upload your largest jpg and only allow clients to view medium to large images, so if they steal them they don't get usable images as a screen capture only captures what is actually on the screen not the whole full sized file...same with right click copy stealing....

Another way to look at it is....Your Website is just another place to keep images backed up......so you may loose all your raw files on your several hardrives but those full sized JPEGS are pretty much safe, as a good site host will also have back ups of all the sites they are hosting....

Files/photos are not opened, the selected display size is all they see. JPG's can lose quality if opened
and saved but nothing is opened.
