Looking back at the Tetons as I head north into Yellowstone.

Nice, Tom! I'm surprised to see the snow, with all the *heat & fires* news coming out of USA! This is a very much softer, more "rural'" view of this area than is common, which tends to cast them in gotterdammerung character. This colour green-and-blue is a signature of yours!

Very nice! The lakes you can hike to in the Tetons are amazing if you have time.

    Hey, guy,

It actually snowed on me the first night I spent inside Yellowstone. From then on, though, the days were picture-book and the nights were clear...but very cold. The snow you see on the distant Teton peaks is pretty much a year-around thing.

The whole time I was there, I never saw any clues to the fires that are ravaging parts of the West. Yellowstone itself, though, suffered devastating fires a number of years ago ( about 1/3 of the entire park...or approximately 800,000 acres.... burned ) and the lingering evidence to that episode is everywhere.

    Take care,

    Tom

You're certainly right, Heather, about those lakes. I made it to several of them....Jenny Lake, of course, being the main attraction of the bunch. Stunning territory.

    Thanks for looking in,

    Tom

    Hi Mary,

I sure hope you and John get the chance to get out there. It's just overwhelming.

    Thanks, Rags.

It's a trip I wish I hadn't put off so long. Thankfully, I stay in good enough shape to contend with the rigors of getting to some of the real backwoods parts of the Park.
