I am looking for a lens to shoot landscapes and have been considering the Canon EFS 10-22mm, any others that would be better?

Landscapes may use literally any class of lenses, depending on the desired effect. Since you are considering a super-wide-angle zoom, I presume you mean "vista" landscapes.

Among the available super-wide zoom lenses available for the Canon crop 1.6x, APS-C format bodies, including the 30D, it's actually rather hard to find a truly bad lens.

One lens that constantly rises to the top of this sort of list is the Tokina 11-16mm, f2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX. In terms of image quality it consistently scores among the best, if the focal length range is within your needs. One rather nice thing about this lens is that it almost covers a FF field at the 16mm end of the zoom.

The Canon EF-S 10-22mm, f3.5-4.5 USM is no slouch and, if you need the range of focal lengths more than you need the faster aperture of the Tokina, it's a great choice.

I use a Sigma 10-20mm, f4-5.6 EX DC HSM, mostly because it was a good and relatively inexpensive choice that works very well stopped down, which is mostly how I use a super-wide zoom. When I bought this lens in 2007 the choices were much fewer, but I still don't intend to replace this copy. It's still very nice for my purposes.

Here is an image from the Sigma 10-20mm, f4-5.6 EX DC HSM, for instance:
