Nice portrait and the colors really jump. The sharpening is a bit much for my taste (and I bet for hers too -- nobody wants to see every pore and bump in their face)

    Thank you,
Actually there was no sharpening, the skin was softened and smoothed with two separate steps. Very reduced texture from original capture.

Gotham, I bought "Portrait Pro" software and retouched the photo with a lot more skin softening. I think it's much better. Thanks for the critique, appreciate the input.

Unless there is a problem with the webhosting, the edited picture looks worse to me. It softened areas that didn't need to be softened like hair, eyes, lips, and scarf. The key to skin smoothing is to smooth just the skin. Portrait professional does that so not sure what happened with the rest of the smoothing.

I just got the program so am still learning how to apply the levels of softening. I'm sure it was not the programs fault...user error to be sure. I don't usually do portraits so it's all an experiment.

    Thank you for your comment.

Its a great picture. All you need to do is run the blur tool over some of the areas of her skin.

Put the softening on its own layer then erase what you don't want.

Great head shot, I really like it. But... I would have liked to see some catch lights in the eyes.

Yeah some where in the middle. Potentially a good shot once you get the skin worked out.
For next time on a shot like this. Blot skin first, don't put the light at such an extreme angle which accentuates the bumps. Less contrast.
