If, like me, you had trouble with the Beta uploader using Firefox on your Mac, here's the answer. (This does NOT apply if you are only using Safari, which works just fine without any needed plugins....)
There's a Java plugin you need for Firefox. You get it right here.
Apple has made it a little difficult to use embedded Java in any browser but Safari. I guess it is one of those anti-competition things. Safari will work fine, and Firefox will work fine with a plugin. The plugin installation is easy:
Go to this site and download the plugin to your Mac desktop
http://sourceforge.net/projects/javaplugin/
Quit Firefox
You'll now have a folder on your desktop called "JavaEmbeddingPlugin."
Open the subfolder called "Binaries" and copy the two files (right click, or cmd-click, + copy files)
Now, navigate in Finder to: Macintosh HD>Library>Internet Plug-Ins and past the two files in the Internet Plug-ins Folder.
Now launch Firefox, go to your SmugMug site, and upload photos. When the Beta Uploader asks you if you "Do you want to trust the signed applet distributed by "Rad Inks (Pvt) Ltd," go ahead and click "Yes."
That's it!
Hope this helps!

That would be a good thing to put on the add photos page next to the Beta uploader--as a link.
