2. Everyone loves a parade

5. Long March Home, 2nd version.

6. Fife and Drum

I've looked at these several times and I just can't decide......
I think that overall, the first might be my favorite, followed by #2 (love the woman's engaging smile.) But the light poles on the right side of each really distract my eye! The soldiers are interesting subjects...quite the range of expressions on their faces in each shot.......very entertaining.

    I like #6... such a classic scene.

Ok-- here's a crop of #2 with the pole cropped out. Better/worse?

I think the composition needs the space to the couple's left. The pole doesn't bother me. I think I prefer #1 though. With the hazy sky, I'd be tempted to try it in B&W, maybe even with a little grain to give it a subtle vintage look?

    Oh, I don't do ... subtle. :D

Nope. Not subtle. (Would still like to see subtle.) But now I'm wondering, what is wrong with the lady's face? The one in the line with the musicians.

It's actually the clip on music stand from the musician next to her blocking her face. And, yeah, now that you point it out, it's pretty odd looking.

    I like what you've done with #6.

#2 appeals to me also. Does it need to be straightened a hair or is the roof crooked? I think it needs the space on the right, also.

I like the last shot best, but am left with one question that has nothing to do with the photograph (nit picking in bound...) - why is it that people go to all of the expense and trouble of uniforms like those and then put on sunglasses that are just out of place? That said, the processing and shot are great IMO.

If I post it, please tell me how to make it better. My fragile ego can take it.

Anybody who wants to march in 90 degree + weather with 90%+ humidity at high noon in authentic historical garb gets a pass from me in regards to their eyewear. mwink.gif
