Snail

Took this a few weeks ago in the back yard. Handheld so the sharpness isn't what it could be and I oversharpened a bit I think for what I had. Messing around in LAB and inverting colors as well as trying out a new watermark for when I'm posting pics on forums. I'm slowly going through Evening's CS4 book and workbook trying to learn more about the basics.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Neat capture Blooze. thumb.gif Try fill-flashing it the next time to make the colors more pop.

Thanks! I actually used a little fill flash on this pic, IIRC, because he was hidden behind some foliage. There are a couple of others in my wildlife gallery of him/her? in full sun. The shell color is really not that spectacular like you see on a lot of snails.

I turned the fill flash down to where it barely shows, but I don't really like the shiny spots you end up with because they're slimy. In the process of messing around in LAB colorspace and inverting I ended up with basically a b&w background with the snail color being this muted green and beige color which I thought was a little different.
