Problem Re-publishing to SM from LR 4

I have the latest plug-in for Publish Services in Lightroom 4 and have had no problems publishing photos to my SM galleries. However, when I modify SM gallery JPEGs in LR 4 (adding keywords along with changes in the Develop module), and re-publish the modified images, only the keyword mods show up in SM. The image changes done in the Develop module do not show up in the SM image, even though the "modified" timestamp for the SM image shows it is the latest version. It seems that the Develop module changes just get thrown away in SM.
Any suggestions as to what I might try to fix this? Thanks.

I tried it on one of my photos and once I've made changes in the develop section, the photo gets automatically marked for republishing and the changes are reflected on SmugMug the next time I publish.
Note that develop changes on a photo are marked with a little icon in the bottom right of a thumbnail - that shows you what kind of change you made.
Are you sure that you use the latest version of Lightroom and the SmugMug publish services? Check for Lightroom updates and also go to the plugin manager to manually check for updates for the plugin.
What version do you use?

I'm using LR version 4.1 (the latest), and the LR Publish plugin is version 1.0.4.8. Trying a manual update gets me the message that I have the latest of both LR and the plugin.
Everything works in LR4 as you describe but when I log in to my SM account, the image changes do not show up, even though the timestamp shows the correct modification date. The image changes are there in LR, and the image that is being re-published shows the changes in LR, but the edits don't get reflected in the image that is actually being displayed in SM on my website.
I also verified that "File and Metadata" is checked for the Republishing option in the LR Publishing Manager for SM.
By the way, I went back to LR 3.6 and the re-publish works as I expect, with the image edits showing up on my Smugmug website a couple minutes after I re-published. So it seems to be an issue with the plugin for LR 4.1.

I posted the same problem few weeks ago (no response). The changes I made to the photographs within Lightroom do not show up on the published photos on Smugmug. I am using the same verison of Lightroom and Smugmug plugin as Charlie.
Thank you,

Hello, Sushant,
The folks at Smugmug Support tell me that I had the File Settings in the LR Publish Services for Smugmug set to "Original" and it should have been set to "JPEG". Once I did this everything works fine.
I think this is really an ambiguous situation, since there are separate settings for "Re-publish" that are supposed to govern whether the file + metadata, metadata only, or file only are updated, except that they apparently don't work correctly unless the File Settings is also on JPEG. Seems like you should get some kind of error message otherwise, rather than just have a failure with no clue as to what happened. Just my two cents...

Thank you so much for the reply. It works for me after following your instructions. I agree that there should be a better way to handle this. I think it is very normal for users to install LR, edit some photos, and publish. This normal workflow apparently does not work with default settings of the plugin. May be this default setting is for users that have original file types as jpeg instead of raw.
