Hi, I 'm trying to use my flash, and it shuts down as soon as I turn it on. It has fresh batteries. The display lights up for a moment, then it shuts off. Can't find anything in the manual. Any ideas?
Thanks

I moved this to the Accessories forum, since it's apparently not related to a camera problem.

First thing, smell the flash. If any internal circuits have burned out, smell is the best indicator.
If you don't detect a burnt electronics smell:

Second thing is to try a set of new alkaline AA cells instead of rechargeables. Test the flash off of the camera body.

The exact same thing happened to me a while ago with freshly charged rechargeables, turned out they were indeed defective.
I now use a charger that checks and displays battery health so I don't run into another dead set on a shoot anymore.
