Thanks Steve-
We did Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite before heading to Mono Lake. The lighting in the other parks had really sucked and I was a bit frustrated. Luckily when I came down the mountain into Mono I could tell it was going to be a pretty good sunset and sunrise. This was the only location with good light on my entire trip.

Well worth your efforts
Thanks Joel - 6 hours of good light out of a 10 day trip but I'll take it. I am hooked at shooting at night- wanted to do more here but the moon wasn't real bright and was blocked by clouds most of the late night/early morning. If you can time a 3/4 to full moon with snow on the Sierras it could be a sweet shoot.

Thanks Schmoo. There are lots of opportunities in Sequoia and Kings Canyon- I just got stuck with crappy light and heavy traffic in those areas. Only other place I got a couple decent shots was Grizzly Falls in late afternoon (full shade with reflected light).
All of the groves have potential in good light, Kings Canyon in general could be great (views of the canyon), along the river (rapids, small falls, reflected light). Facing East down the canyon from Zumwait Meadow trail would also be a good shot in good afternoon light.
In Sequoia we waited up on Moro Rock for sunset but it sucked. A good sunset with snow covered Sierras would be great. Sequoia groves in soft light, broken light, or bad weather would all be good.

Thanks for the tips! I saw your other thread just now and I wouldn't have been able to tell that you weren't happy with the light. I've been through those two parks very quickly only once before and I'm convinced it has potential, but you rarely see shots from them. I love yours!
