It seems that we have some Rust Skeptics that are aching to become RUST JUNKIES. I propose that we each post one rust shot on this thread to try to convert them (and for us, get a good fix in the process)!

Thanks Tom. A slice of lemon and a shot of tequila to you my friend. My original idea was that the RJs would post on this thread a shot, so that we could have a set of glowing examples to convince skeptics (or lose them forever...)

So... I used to take some rust shots as an afterthought. Then the interest started to build with the colors as a result of the overuse of saturation....
Then a couple of weeks ago I took a shot of a yacht pier pole that had rust and moss and barnacles in heavy fog....
The colors were amazing (luminescence) maybe I should look a little more seriously at printing. I went to Bayphoto (Santa Cruz) to see their metal prints. The luminescence they threw off were also amazing.
I tried to blow up my print , but alas; I couldn't get it up the the size of a triptych I wanted. I figured I could go back and retake the shot in three frames. I went back early one day when the sun was out, thinking the moss would shine. Nah, the barnacles had shadows that would show on the print.
Now this is a private yacht basin that my friend belongs to; it's usually locked up. And it was when I attempted another shoot in the fog. The yard is about an hour away from me (with a $6 toll) so this was getting to be a PITA.
We have yacht basins closer to my home so I went to three and found out that not all yacht harbors are created equal. They had concrete or wood columns; moss, barnacles - no rust; no sale.
This morning was foggy. Figured I would skip tennis and go to the yacht basin, hoping I could sneak in with the vendor deliveries.
San Francisco was so foggy I needed my wiper blades, I began to salivate; thinking the rust would shine with this much moisture. I got to the yard, a produce vendor had the door open, so things were going good. Got to the poles started looking to see which I should shoot. No moss here, no barnacles here... huh! no barnacles or moss WTF is going on. Looking further I saw it under water... Damn it was high tide.
Jeeze... I just can't win.... Should I be institutionalized? C'mon tell me the truth....
I'm going to PP the barnacles in, I'll take a shot when the pieces are hung

And another from yesterday. I got to the raspberry field about a half hour early. Fortunately, I had my camera and I thought about the rust junkies while I was waiting.
Great Rust!
I really like the valve handle and it looks like you found torags barnacles!
How can anyone doubt the power of RUST?
Excellent abstracts! Great color. Your persistence has already paid off.
Institutionalized? Probably not. Crazy? No comment.
Thanks, Eric!
I love rust! And you have some great rust in your shot. I also like the partial circles to give some flow to it.
Thanks, but you get the crispy flaky variety, which is in another league... :D:D
