Favicon - Power User?

Hi all,

Just joined up to the forum after having a website powered by smugmug for the past few months.

I have been trying to change the favicon from the "smuggy" icon to one of my own. I have followed various advice from the Customization Tips page, etc, but still cannot get the new favicon to display.

Is changing the favicon only available to those with a pro account?

If it is available to power users as well, this is what I have tried.

Uploaded favicon to google site - link is here: https://0d5621cd-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/filesicos/favicon/favicon.ico?attachauth=ANoY7cqwPxWYYwebuKKfZeeSOSuJpIOtiuCodOjuElJKkDag4S8qIvbKE-a_8VY-yXeIcLhkQYlqhEgJaFo984Fuqp5lKMEaY5DPGL2FUyWuz-8b-UpLo1oE2zJlREusa0s2qpmOcDFRF9r0di2IwIpeuylQNSlDFCZyZ3sRv5MTv56Jrjkn8jqQzMY_POs1SPGq2Zf25Pn7yeG3_7GssIwCSR3H8itJlw%3D%3D&attredirects=0

Went into advanced customization on my website (www.dalemengelphotography.com) and added the following under the Custom Header section: <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="https://0d5621cd-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/filesicos/favicon/favicon.ico?attachauth=ANoY7crLVECNy7WdzXcOhb_NSW8FXA6dhwbJpib483tkYc8UBOgM6KzOtTDRqviSf2LSM079SmUMoz9kHE5TScOwsvutPHQVy-2P-RshGNdegQSdUUQK5M2-tZ86m4lS4JFm1AjeMMPf11uqRy_2StXNLkQrGzFTjhWWlLfcEatTPRCDiKm34uZSvr-Q79eggQhYerUR4lEyYgqQu5UqZtHo_pKZP_34GQ%3D%3D&attredirects=0">

Is there anything I have done wrong? I don't have much knowledge of HTML or IT knowledge at all, so you'll have to explain things to me quite simply :rofl

Thanks for any help and advice!

Cheers,
Dale

Hi Dale and welcome to Dgrin! wave.gif

Try accessing your favicon link from a clean browser that's not logged into your Google. It's bringing up some "requiring permissions" and does not display the icon. So it can't really work for others. You might need to update the link with one that is publicly available.
Also lose the https in the link and replace it by http .

Furthermore, note that the favicon customization is not available on all browsers. For example Internet Explorer does not support it. It should show fine in Firefox though.

Many thanks for the advice, Sebastian.

I had a look at the google settings and I had the page set to private. I changed the settings to make it public and dropped "s" off https and now it's working - albeit only in Firefox given IE never plays nice with webpages ne_nau.gif

    Thanks again!
