RIP Jake

Today my best friend passed away in my arms. Jake was more human than most people I know.

This basically sums up how I feel about him and dogs in general.

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.He has told me a thousand times that I am the reason for his being;by the way he rest his head against my leg:by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile:by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him(I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not there to care for me.)When I am wrong he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool he ignores it. When I succeed he brags.Without him I am only another man. With him I am all powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me teh meaning of devotion. With him I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark umknown things. He has promised to wait for me...wherever...whenever in case I need him.And I expect I will and always have. He is just my dog...

I'm so sorry. I've seen the heartbreak in my kids over the death of fish and hamsters....I can't imagine the grief should our dog die.

I am sorry for your loss.

I am old enough to have lost many pets and people important in my life. While loss is never pleasant, it is one of the things that make us human.

Time will lessen the hurt, but cannot touch the many fond memories you must have. Cherish the memories and remember those important to you who are still alive.

    Take care,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your words for your "furchild" made me cry. :cry I cannot imagine the feeling of loss you are feeling right now. I know all too well how attached we can become to our pets. I love this poem, and I hope it helps you...

I am so sorry! My heartfelt condolences.

Kelso is the first dog to share my life, and I can completely relate to the words you chose to include as remembrance for Jake.

    Take care, and fond memories.

So sad to lose a pet
It's never easy losing a pet, looking for them unexpectedly a few days later, very sad. He looked like an excellent companion and I know he'll be missed.

I cannot say (type) anything eloquently enough to express my feelings for you and your family.

Please know that as a animal person I understand fully what Jake meant to you and how you must feel at this moment.

All will be well, just not today.

How sad. Nobody, except possibly your mother, loves you like your dog.

They don't live as long as we would like them to, but they do live very intensely. I like to think about how much experience they pack into their short lives.
    If not now, when?

I hardly knew what owning a dog meant until i met Taj
He wasnt even my dog, barely met him once a month but i saw him grow up.
Unfortunely, only couple of months ago, he died a very unfortunate death at a very young age.

His funeral was more powerful than i could have ever expected. It was nothing short of losing a family member so i can relate a bit to how you must be feeling.

No doubt all dogs go to heaven =)

I hope you are coping well, just remember that wherever Jake is now there's and endless supply of bones, and all the tennis balls he wants to chase ....

    We know your loss
It's impossible to explain to people who don't know the love and loyalty of a great dog. We have three, we had four.

We had to put our friend out of his misery almost three years ago and we still speak of him and his love.

We understand my friend, we understand.

Just keep this in mind, he loved your attention as you loved his, He loved your presence as you loved his. You parted this world as equals, you owe nothing to your friend, he knew even to his last breath that you were his best friend as he was yours.

Peace to your family during this time and for all time.
