Sit next to someone beautiful. :D

I decided to test out my 17-35mm lens to shoot people this weekend. Just goofing around with some snaps of us. It's actually not that bad on the long end. Some minor distortion so just got to be extra careful when frame the person.

1. Shot of my wife and I while we had a picnic on Saturday. I actually took this shot with the camera held out in my left hand. Gets pretty heavy fast. :huh Not too much distortion because we're pretty centered in the frame and the camera was straight on.

2. Natural light portrait of my beautiful "Chinita". A little elongation of her head but it's not terrible.

3. Meatball playing his favorite game: Lets "eat" water. BTW, Meatball was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago with Hypothyroidism. He's a completely different dog now that he's being medicated. His coat is beautiful and he's so playful. Like a puppy. It's funny because I have Hypothyroidism too. I guess it must be genetic. :dunno

4. The wife again. I don't know anyone else that goes swimming without getting their hair wet. :rolleyes Again, heads just a tad long because I'm shooting down on her. I think I had my flash on camera here, on low power, for just a bit of fill. Oh... and she's not naked, just a really tiny bathing suit. :lust

Your lighting patterns are getting to be great!! You've got a light side and dark side and even Rembrandt, way to go. Plus the exposures are spot on.

    Alex,

Good to hear Meatball is doing well!, and you should remove the caption to #4. We / I don't need to know she has a bathing suit on. :D:D:D

    Tale as old as time
    True as it can be
    Barely even friends
    Then somebody bends
    Unexpectedly

    Just a little change
    Small, to say the least
    Both a little scared
    Neither one prepared

Alex, I think you know the rest of the lyrics..

How do you know I wasn't lying and we were actually naked in the pool?

You know, sometimes my wife and I role play but not how you think. She dresses up like Beast and I dress up as Belle. iloveyou.gif

Love the photos! My husky was recently diagnosed with thyroid disorder, too. She had not been feeling great for a few months, then suddenly lost most of her coat on her back. With medication, her personality changed within 2 days and her coat has completely grown back! She's almost 12 years old, so there are some days when she moves slower, but getting that thyroid under control is like a miracle. Oh, and I am so jealous of that pool. It's been pretty hot around Austin this week.

I'm not sure how long Meatball has had issues with his thyroid but I suspect it's been years. Since about age two, he's always been really calm/low energy. Never had much interest in food and he had a very rough coat for a pug. We took him to the vet for something unrelated and the she decided to run some blood work because she suspected he may have issues. Turns out he did. Within a couple days of medicating him, he's been a completely different dog. Lots of energy and his coat began to soften and thicken within the first week or so. It was quite amazing to see him transform. Poor little guy. Who knew. He always seemed healthy, just low key.

Beardies are prone to thyroid issues - it's becoming one of the first things vets look for if they know the breed and there's a problem. Glad Meatball's perked up!! Interesting that he just got floppy - Beardies usually get very fearful with thyroid (along with the coat issues).

As for the pix, I do find the distortion too much for me in all but the first one (which I simply love!!) and the one with Meatball playing with the water.

As an aside, your house is just SICK. SICK, I say. Between that GORGEOUS pool and the beautiful tile work we've seen in glimpses from your home in the past, I'm just about ready to cry with envy....

Not sure I agree with your premise that sitting next to someone beautiful would somehow make me look better. I prefer to be seen without being compared to beautiful people. :)
