Default Viewing Style when sharing Galleries

how come when I want to share a gallery, I look in
share photo: links, forums, blogs and the link/url to share the gallery is
http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/960727/1/44190864
But it seems I only need the first part to share the gallery
http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/960727
What is the extra stuff for?
Also, how can I make a particular viewing style: the default when I give a non-smugmug user a url to view a gallery? I don't want to restrict the user, just have the gallery initially display in a style: I choose.
The following example would be optimal
http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/960727?style=journal

I believe that the extra info is the photo number in the gallery (first photo), followed by the unique photo number.
As far as forcing the initial style, the answer is here.

so if I want them to use the journal view to scroll through the pics as a story (with my captions), I have to tell them to change the style to journal, I can't select it for them... bummer.... thanks for clarifying
Sure you can just "force" it, in "customize gallery" like this example on my site.
