I find this a frustrating picture to look at: not sure if that is what you intended or not! The reflections are just strong enough that they make it a hard story to follow, which I guess I have to chalk up to artistic intent.

This picture should have been deleted when you took it. Do you know the child?

Can't make much of this one, BD. Too much confusion.

I like the idea however I think the sides of the buildings around the window distract from the image and the girl's dress is too hot. Is that a Palm tree shadow I see?

2nd post from this frame of mind... gotta respond.

    Why shouldn't you shoot children?

I'm a grandfather and I resent the association that if you shoot children you're not good. You don't want to shoot children great, it's your prerogative. Your first post was unnecessary.

I'm scheduled to be in India and Nepal in Feb., and one of the reasons for Nepal are the children's faces.

    Lighten up.

I will not shoot children that I do not know. I would be bothered if someone on the street took a shot of my children so I refrain from shooting other children that I do not know.

Well, Nmahooch, better keep your kids out of public places. The only reason I can think of to at least be careful shooting kids is people's paranoia about child molesters and kiddy porn, which can make shooting kids quite difficult. But otherwise, there is absolutely no reason not to photograph children, and every reason to photograph them. If we didn't photograph children we wouldn't have many of the truly great street photographs.

I also refrain from random street shots of unknown kids, entirely out of courtesy to their parents. I will shoot kids at events where it seems appropriate to do so: school and sports events, for example. But if a parent asks me to refrain from shooting their kid (it happened once at a youth sports event) I always oblige.

However, this is just my personal choice. If you are in a public place you have every right to photograph whatever you want. And kids are such great subjects, it is really hard not to pull out the camera!

Regarding the photo under discussion, to my eye there is a kernel of something interesting but it is a bit busy for me. Then again, I have a hard time with busy-ness...
