Gallery Slideshow Issue with Wide Gamut Monitor

The standard gallery slideshow produces over saturated images (especially with reds) when viewed on a wide gamut monitor calibrated using full (native) gamut. It's apparent that the slideshow using Adobe Flash isn't color managed, even if you are using a color managed browser such as Firefox. The same images viewed in the gallery are fine (no color cast or over-saturation issue).

As expected the HTML5 replacement for the home page slideshow by J Friend displays colors properly on the same system.

Anyone using a standard gamut monitor or a wide gamut monitor calibrated to sRGB gamut won't notice this issue.

Given that wide gamut monitors are becoming more prevalent does anyone know if there is a fix for this or if Smugmug is planning to upgrade the standard gallery slideshow so that it will work properly for those users?

Smugmug seems to be almost 2 years behind replacing their Flash slideshow with an HTML5 variant that would address this issue. They clearly know how to do it (they use a simple HTML5 slideshow on iPhone/iPad) and several third parties have done it (mine included). I have no idea why it's taking so long for them to fix this as this could be a totally incremental thing that doesn't need to rely on lots of other infrastructure changes. There are a lot of things like this overdue (new gallery style is a big one). I wonder what's up?

Thanks John. After a Google search it sounds like some Zen users are also frustrated about the same issue and they've been promised a fix for two years.

I hacked in an HTML slideshow for my homepage a long time ago* and haven't looked back. I also wonder "what's up", but this post on the dev blog seems to indicate that something is coming. (Someday)

Any chance someone from Smugmug could comment on 1) if the issue is known and 2) if they are working on a fix?
