Mini-challenge "Cars"
As the winner of the last mini-challenge it falls to me to host the next challenge.
I have chosen Cars as the next challenge.
We pretty much all have one. At one time we've been happy or really angry at one.
Through my life I've had a very healthy Love/Hate relationship with my auto.

So, the challenge is, show off a car.
It doesn't have to be yours. It could be from a car show, a race, or your driveway.

Have fun with it.

I really don't have many shots like this myself, so I'll be out this week trying for a shot also.

As I always do, this Mini will run for about a week.

From now, until Noon central daylight savings time on Saturday, August 18th.

If you have older shots, post them. If you don't have older shots, go make some new ones.

Have some fun, and be sure to comment on others shots.

OUR UN-OFFICIAL GENERAL RULES
1. Have fun sharing and seeing what others share!
2. The host supplies a topic and you post 1-3 images. The host judges the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and is not eligible to enter.
The 1st place winner then chooses the next topic will be the judge
3. Any photo you’ve taken is eligible, regardless of when taken or camera used.
4. Any amount of post-processing is allowed. However, it is helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo.
You may comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you some critique or criticism, just ask within your post.
5. The winner has up to three days (72 hours) to begin a new mini-challenge, or the honor goes to the #2 finisher and so forth.
Guidelines:
1. Enter 1-3 photos and put them in a single post.
2. Either embed your image in the thread or, if you must, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website).
3. Also try and resize your photos prior to posting so they're sized appropriately for viewing without having to scroll (~800 pixels on the longest side works best.)
4. Give each image you enter a title.
5. Enjoy discussion with members about their images, don't let this just be an entry thread!
6. When quoting a post change the IMG urls to a 200x200 size picture so it is clear your post is feedback and not another entry. (see here for help)
7. Don't be hesitant, share'em and enter!
Mini-Challenge pointers:
1. Upon winning a mini-challenge round your first step is coming up with a new theme, and start a new thread using the same format as others have used.
2. Make sure to notify the admin of this thread to update the main thread links with your entry thread.
3. Feel free to watch the thread as it grows or wait to the end time and look at all the entries all at once.
4. After the time/date has passed, then officially close the thread with a single post notifying everyone of the fact.
5. After you're finished judging start a new thread (again use the prior formats) and post your Winner and runners-up, it is important to have runners up incase the winner does not show within the 72hr window.
6. PM the winner with this info above and let them know they have 72hrs.
7. After the 72hrs and the winner does not show up, notify the next runner-up and post a message on the Winner thread of the fact.
8. Remember, if you're the Winner, you run the next mini challenge
dave.

I don't really take pictures of cars, but sometimes my Subaru ends up in my photos just because it's there.

This is how Subarus are supposed to be used.

OK you asked for older shots - I don't know if you meant THIS old but...

Citroen 2CV taken with a Kodak Retina Reflex and Kodachrome film in July 1964 in France. My husband is the one looking at the car.

    x5910-10.jpg

This is someplace out west in 1966. My husband and father are in the 1932 Plymouth ahead of me and I am driving a VW bus with my mom and my two girls. Steering wheel reflected in the windshield. Same camera and film.

    electcar.jpg

This one is much newer - probably 1999 or so. I don't remember the camera. But my husband took a 1984 Escort diesel and converted it to electric. We took it to an Eco-Day and he put the mirror on the ground under it to show what the engine looked like.

I did this one for a school project earlier this year. This is a light painted image using 4 exposures: 2 for the car and 2 for the wall. I masked out what I didn't want in the four layers and used several color correction layers and adjustment layers.

    Nikon D700. Tamron 24-70mm.

Gotta have some muscle and a detailed car in Mid Michigan. Car owned by brother of the bride. Nice guy to let them use it for the day. This was my first wedding shoot. Lots of fun! Focus more on the car than the B&G - oops!

It's definitely been a while since I've been on Dgrin...been busy with a new job and opening a new business, but I think I'm ready to come back cause I have missed the contests and friends.

I can't remember if I've used this one before, but here is my only car shot so far...

I don't really have any car shots worthy to compete with what has already been posted, but I have a few 'fun' shots that I'll share.

    1. Coming to the Green--NASCAR race at Martinsville October '08

    2. One for Jr Nation

    3. Taking the caution flag--Nascar Truck Series

This was the only race I've ever been to, but it was fun. I don't think I have any other car shots.

Looks like you folks are doing a good job.
    Keep them coming.

As I said when I started this, that I didn't have a lot of car shots.
I took a few shots over the weekend, here's one that I like.
A bit of post work done to it.

Taken with a point and shoot Canon.

My mechanic and friend races on dirt tracks. Before the season opens, his garage gets his and his nephew's cars ready. The skins are thrown out- they're pretty much beat by the end of a season - and the cars are optimized before new ones are put on.
