Moonrise over the Sierra crest. Night started out cloud free, I've posted the Milky way before, just reposted it to show the change in viewing conditions over the night. Not great photos, wasn't really sure what I'd gotten while shooting, actually, but an interesting affect I think.

2) ~4 hours later; a 5 minute exposure blurs out the moon itself, but allows some color to be seen in the halo.

    Can you give me ideas on where to learn the equipment and techniques to get the Milky Way type of shot? I either get way underexposed or I get star trails. ANY pointers (books etc.) will be gratefully accepted.
